Naughty Boy with the Green Eyes

So, I made every effort to make today a better day than yesterday. I think the fates are just against me right now. Parts of today were absolutely wonderful, unfortunately parts were a sharp contrast. In an effort to make up for my rant yesterday I'll try to focus on the good parts.

Okay the good parts edition~

1: I booked all my transportation for my trip to Friday Harbor for Cat Bordhi's Visionary Retreat! Getting to this wonderful little island will involve 3 flights, a 3 hour bus trip, a 2 hour ferry, and a ride in a car (getting home involves all of the above plus a couple of extra shuttle rides & an extra night in an airport motel). I'm told it's well worth the effort & I'm totally ready to believe it from what I've seen. It feels really good to get this all booked and I'm ready to go in January.

2: I had my mid-semester chat with my painting teacher. We saw much improvement in my work and despite my attendance issues (theatre work related...) she saw no reason I shouldn't get a 4.0 in the class. Big sigh of relief there. I really feel like I'm starting to find a few things I like in my paintings and that I'm hitting my groove. We also chatted about my final project that involves a series of thematic paintings. I want to use yarn or knitting somehow as a theme. My plan is to paint abstract style paintings that focus on color and texture. She was worried I was going to do paintings of people knitting (she thought this might be boring...) I suggested I could get my favorite male model to pose nude with strategically placed balls of yarn & scarves. Much thought went into that and her face got really red...

3: We figured out a solution for the cell phone thing. Nextel will only cost us 10 more a month for 3 lines. Plus I was told there not only will be no fees to switch, we actually even get a discount on our first bill. The only downside is buying new phones...

4: I finished my first pair of hand knit hand spun socks. I wore them all day to try to improve my mood. I think they helped. They are the best pair of socks ever! I even sent them through the washer & dryer (because that's how sadistic I am). Look how well they held up~

They even helped me spin up my next sock yarn from the CMF roving that was gifted to me.

5: I won some stitch markers!

So, it seems in writing to be a darn good day. Just imagine what must have gone wrong to squash my mood. The hints are some of it involves a computer printer, travel sites, my favorite drink being discontinued and a green eyed bad boy who has made it so I can't knit and can barely type. He just looks so innocent.

Deep Breaths & A Good Nights Sleep are my plan for a better tomorrow.

Hi,

I loved your handspun socks. They are my favourite colors.
Today I began with the Iris garden socks - I have cast-on 14 stitches!!!

Åmy:

Great socks!

Those are some nifty socks and what great stitch markers you won.

Googled the Cat Bordhi's Visionary Retreat it sounds like you are going to have a great time. Looks like the traveling there and back will be worth it.

Sandra:

You will love Friday Harbor! (Although I live in Michigan now, I'm from Seattle.) The ferry ride from Anacortes through the San Juan Islands is beautiful - especially on a sunny day. Have fun on the retreat!

Congrats on the great grade. I envy your trip to the retreat. I am working hard on trying to finish Iris #1.
