Painting Wools

Today was the first day of Fall Semester. I'm only taking one class this semester, Painting 1. Today we went over color theory... we will be covering color theory for the next 5 classes... yippy!
At least the supplies didn't add up to as much as I feared. The teacher let us choose Acrylic or Oil rather than making us try both like some of the teachers. One Medium, one set of supplies.
I decided to try Acrylic since it smells better, is cleaner, and drys quickly.
I've never really painted before so we'll all see how it goes.

I did finish up a few spinning projects.
The CVM is now 8oz of DK 3-ply goodness.

I really need to get a good WPI gauge. I forgot to get one at the Fiber Fest...

Also,
I spun up the fiber that Jennifer sent me in my lace swap package. In the spirit of the swap I decided to spin up some lace weight. I started with 50g of Merino / Tussah Silk. I ended up with approx 340 yards of single ply.

It's still a bit curly because I haven't set the twist yet. I think I finally found a solution for weighting the skeins while they try~

I think we have some roving at the store that would look nice with this color (also a blended Merino/Tussah Silk), it more purple but with blue undertones. I would like to spin up enough to knit a shawl. I'm leaning towards the flower basket shawl.

The merino/tussah silk has a lovely, subtle color. And what a clever yarn weight! Necessity truly is the mother of invention.

Amy:

Oh I wish I were taking classes--I love back to school time--it will have to wait until my son is a little older.

Bezzie:

I prefer acrylic too. But watercolor over both!

Great idea for a weight!
